April 20 - 21, 2009
I started my 2009 tour stops in Valdosta, GA at the South Georgia Classic (the Athens,GA event was rained out in the practice days) for the Nationwide event. It was good to see some of my friends I had met in the past. The new Tour Fire shaft got great reviews from both playability and the new look. Josh Broadaway (cross-handed golfer) gave the Tour Fire a try. He hit it very well and liked the feel of the shaft. He was going to try a few other heads with the different lofts to work on a few different ball flights. Josh is a super nice guy. Kevin Johnson also demo'd the Tour Fire shaft. He too hit it very well. Kevin is an easy going guy as well. Most of the guys on the Nationwide Tour I have dealt with have been very nice and good natured. I visited with many new guys to me like Ryan Cobb, Alistair Presnell, JL Lewis, Grant Waite, Chris Tidland and JJ Killeen. I also caught up with some guys that we got New Image shafts in their hands last year like Matt Every, Brian Smock and Joseph Sykora. All these guys are very good guys and I hope they all make it to the next level. I ended this stop with getting Neal Lancaster some tour hybrid shafts. We built these shafts exclusively for the tour. They are 95g- 105g shafts that feel like an iron shaft. He hit them very well and loved the feel. They ended up in his bag by the end of the day. I believe they were in play this week, but I'll have to confirm with the Darrell Survey. Neal is a down to earth good going guy. I hope the shafts continue to do well for him.
